The Thread is a feature-length documentary that explores how spiritual practices from across cultures, lineages, and beliefs are bound by something deeper: a shared impulse to create, connect, and make meaning.

Through the voices of spiritual elders and leaders—from Lenape wise men to Mongolian Shamans, Priestesses of Voodoo to Jewish Rabbis— we uncover how magick lives in the ordinary: in planting a seed, writing a song, sharing a meal, dancing, praying, and building community. These acts are not separate from the sacred—they are the sacred.

Through the lens of our professional film crew, including several students of witchcraft, The Thread invites audiences to reconsider what spirituality looks like today—and how, in ways both quiet and profound, we’re all participating, connected by the same ancient thread.

Why is it that in this era of hyper-connection, it is loneliness, disillusionment, and division that are so widespread? The noise of modern life often drowns out the quiet rituals and communal wisdom that have long grounded the human experience. At a time when many are searching for meaning, healing, and belonging, The Thread offers a return to something essential.

 

We follow Documentary Host Deidra Catero, a High Priestess of the Progressive Witchcraft tradition, who brings a unique openness to this journey. Her practice — rooted in the belief that true growth comes not from having all the answers, but from never stopping the search — thrives on asking deeper questions.

As such, this film doesn’t seek to define what is sacred. It asks what becomes possible when we see the sacred in one another.
